Delighted residents are settling into exclusive new homes built by Walsall's leading social housing landlord whg. Among them is great-grandmother Ivy Eccleston, aged 77, who has moved from a three-bedroom house in Bloxwich. She said: "I love my new home – it's wonderful. "This place is perfect for me and I feel safe and secure. It's well-insulated, warm and convenient – it's not far to the doctors' and the bus stop is only a few yards away. The properties, built on the site of outdated bed-sits, have highly efficient gas central heating systems and are well insulated. They feature a number of other energy and water saving features designed to reduce residents' utility bills and meet the national Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3. The new development has assisted whg tackle the national problems of overcrowding and under-occupancy as some residents were supported to move after deciding to downsize from larger, family houses. I'm more than delighted here.
