City to open shelter for those affected by gas main break

BALTIMORE -

While BGE continues to work to restore gas service to clients in the Carrollton Ridge and Millill communities, the City continues its outreach to affected residents.

Crews are moving quickly through 4 specific work zones. Once BGE has completed their work at citizens' residences, they leave behind a notification to let the residents take into account that a plumber will be visiting their homes.

BGE is providing Baltimore City with a list of locations where plumbers are increasingly being dispatched to inspect and turn on appliances if they are in working condition. Plumbers are assigned specific addresses. If a customer is not home when the plumber arrives, a hang tag with the plumber's telephone number will be left for the customer to arrange entry for the plumber.

A plumber should arrive at a home that has received a BGE notice within 24 to 48 hours.

The Customer Care Center at the Samuel Morse Recreation Center at 424 Pulaski Street remains open until 8pm tonight. and on Sunday from 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. A shelter will also open at this same location beginning at 6 p.m. tonight to accommodate those citizens still without heat. These hours may be subject to extension due to changing weather conditions. Available at this location are:

Meals ready to eat

Water

Blankets

Comfort Kits

Claim Forms

ealth Information

General Support

Citizens are reminded to be careful when using any approved electrical heating devices. Kerosene heaters and gas generators within the property are illegal and extremely dangerous.

For additional information citizens can also call 311.
