Plumbers win winter league

John Vance Plumbing (4-4) defeated Jungle Jim (0-8) 71-58 in the championship game of the New Glasgow men's rec basketball winter league.

The plumbers led all the way, winning the first half 41-36, and the second half 30-23. The second quarter was the only quarter won by the jungle men, 23-20.

The Plumbers were led by Andrew MacKay with 19. Tyler Day added 14, Steve MacLeod (12), Eric Neilson (8), Mark Thompson (9), Leo Izzard (5) and Bill Larad (2).

Jungle Jim's were led by Aaron Smith with 26. Dave Lemon contributed 12, Scott Kelly (6), Ron MacDonald (5), David Roan (4), Brian MacIsaac (4) and Sean Rutledge (1).

The consolation game was won by Sam's of Trenton who led the regular league with a record of 8-0. They defeated Blinkhorn (4-4) by a score of 87-80.

The top scorer for Sam's was Emileo Skinner with 29, follow closely by Dylan Mulder who added 23,. Other scorers were Justin Stewart (16), Mark Arbuckle (8), Tony Wright (6).

Tyler MacDonald led the way for the Realtors with 24. Andrew Hatfield had 20, Shane Cormier (14), Rick MacArthur (10), Shane Hampton (9) and Kyle Daley (3).

The organizers are looking at having a spring league. Watch for more information in upcoming issues of The News.
